Police in Iceland's capital region responded to a man who boarded the Coast Guard vessel Þór without permission. The ship was docked in Reykjavik harbor when the incident occurred.
Officers arrested the man and placed him in a detention cell. Police described the events in their nightly activity report.
Authorities also dealt with an intoxicated man causing trouble at a Hafnarfjörður store. Store staff had asked him to leave without success. Police eventually arrested him too.
Two additional arrests followed an assault in Kópavogur. Emergency services also responded to a fire in Mosfellsbær.
Capital area police registered 55 cases between 5 PM yesterday and 5 AM today. Four people remained in custody this morning.
These incidents highlight typical police challenges in Iceland's urban areas. The Coast Guard vessel boarding represents a unusual security breach at a key national facility.
