Police received an emergency call about an ongoing rape near a school in Eskilstuna. The incident occurred at 12:30 AM on Saturday morning.
Officers arrived at the scene and arrested a 35-year-old man. Police spokesperson Mats Pettersson confirmed the arrest in a statement.
"We have taken some investigative measures overnight," Pettersson said. "Much work remains to be done in this case."
The victim is a girl under 18 years old. Authorities are limiting information released due to the early investigation stage and the victim's age.
Police cordoned off the area throughout the night. A technical investigation of the crime scene will be conducted.
