A serious collision involving four vehicles has completely stopped traffic on Sweden's E45 highway. The accident occurred south of the Lödöse junction in western Sweden.
Emergency services received the alert at 12:06 PM. Rescue teams, police, and ambulance crews all responded to the scene.
Maria Berntsson, an emergency dispatch operator, confirmed their presence. "We are on site together with police and ambulance," she said.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes. However, rescue workers closed traffic in both directions during their operation.
Police spokesperson Johan Håkansson provided some relief. "There are no personal injuries," he stated. "However, those involved were shaken by the experience."
By 1:40 PM, emergency crews remained at the location. They worked to clear the wrecked vehicles from the roadway.
Fredrik Östlund, another dispatch operator, offered hope for commuters. "We're currently towing the cars away," he explained. "One northbound lane has reopened. We hope to open both lanes soon."
The E45 is a major European route running through western Sweden. Such closures typically cause significant delays for regional traffic. This incident highlights the vulnerability of key transport corridors to sudden disruptions.
Authorities continue to manage the situation while urging drivers to seek alternative routes.
