A Halloween celebration turned into a nightmare for a Norwegian family. Police confirmed a teenage boy was found dead in the water after being reported missing.
The Nordland Police District searched throughout Friday night and Saturday morning for the missing minor in Mosjøen, a coastal town in northern Norway. Authorities located the boy deceased in the water hours later.
Police do not currently suspect criminal activity but continue investigating the circumstances. Officers received the missing person report early Saturday morning when the teenager failed to return home at the agreed time.
Operations manager Thomas Jarnæs Coe stated investigators are examining events leading to the incident. "It is too early to announce what happened," he said. "We are investigating broadly and trying to determine what occurred prior to the event."
The boy had attended a youth Halloween party that evening. Family members lost contact with him after the celebration ended. Relatives alerted authorities when he didn't return home.
Police have notified the family about the death. Local crisis response teams are now providing support to affected community members.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers water poses in Nordic coastal communities, even during organized social events. The investigation continues as authorities work to determine exactly how the teenager ended up in the water.
