The first kidnapping occurred in May 2023 in Sölvesborg. A man in his 50s arrived expecting to meet a woman. Instead, two men and a woman assaulted him. There, they made him transfer ownership of his car to one defendant. They also forced him to take out multiple credit loans and transfer the money to them.
Just days later, another man was abducted from Sölvesborg. His captors threatened to publicly brand him as a pedophile unless he paid large sums. They released him only after he complied with their demands.
Over six months following the initial incident, the first victim faced continued extortion. The perpetrators demanded approximately 250,000 Swedish kronor total. On two occasions, the victim's teenage son was present. The boy was also forced to make payments under duress.
Beyond the two kidnappings, several people face charges for extorting seven men total. All victims paid substantial amounts to the accused.
One 35-year-old defendant stands out as the alleged ringleader. Prosecutors charge him with involvement in nearly all the crimes. He denies all accusations against him.
The other two defendants in the Halland kidnapping admit they were present during the events. However, they deny committing any crimes. Two additional people face money laundering charges. Another defendant faces charges for a separate extortion case.
